Car Central is operated by CTE Studios. It lists cars from dealers and private sellers. This page says what we collect when you use it, in plain terms.

What you give us

If you ask about a car, you give us your name, a phone number or email address, and your message. We pass that to the dealer who listed the car so they can answer you. We keep a copy in our system so the dealer can follow up and so there's a record of your message.

Browsing cars needs no account and asks for nothing.

If you list a car yourself

We collect your name, email, an optional phone number, the car's VIN, price, description and photos, and the city, state and ZIP where it is. We never show your name, email or phone number on the site. Messages from buyers (their name, phone, email and message) are sent to your email and kept on your private listing page. Photos are re-saved without the location and camera details your phone adds. We keep your listing while it's active and for a limited time afterward to deal with disputes and fraud, and you can ask us to delete it.

Who sees it

The dealer you wrote to, and the people at that dealership who handle inquiries. Once a dealer has your details, how they use them is covered by their own practices; ask them if you want to know. They may call or text you about the car you asked about. We don't send you marketing messages, and we don't sell your information or share it with other dealers or advertisers.

We use service providers to run the site: hosting, our database, and delivering the email that tells a dealer you wrote. They handle your information only to do that job.

What we don't do

The public pages don't use cookies, advertising trackers or analytics tools. We don't ask for your driver license, Social Security number or payment information on this site.

Security and abuse prevention

To stop spam and abuse, the contact form limits how often one visitor can send messages. For that we keep a one-way scrambled code derived from your network address for about a day. We don't keep the address itself for this. Connections to the site are encrypted.

How long we keep it

A dealer's inquiries stay in their records for as long as they use Car Central, unless you ask for them to be removed.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete what you sent us, or ask a dealer to stop contacting you. Contact the dealership on the car's page. We'll pass your request to the dealer where it concerns their records.

Children

Car Central is for adults buying cars. It isn't meant for anyone under 18.

Changes

If we change this page we'll update the date at the top.
