Inventory
Walk up to a car and scan the door-jamb sticker or the VIN under the windshield. It's decoded on the spot, without being fooled by the other text around it. Every cost goes on the car, so you always know what you have in it.
The desk
Put in the out-the-door price and the sale price, tax and fees are solved for you, and they stay put when you change a fee or the trade. North Carolina highway use tax is figured on price plus doc fee, less the trade, and the doc fee prints on its own line, as the state requires.
Paperwork
The real NCDMV forms are filled in from the deal, with a clear list of anything still missing. Until it's all there, every page is stamped DRAFT, so a bad packet can't be filed by mistake. Pick which documents go in each deal and print them as one PDF.
Titles and your clerk
Give your clerk their own login. Driver license copies and insurance cards live inside each deal, stored encrypted, with every view logged, so nothing gets forgotten or misplaced. She can do the DMV work and nothing else: no prices, no profit, no books.
Books
Profit per unit, after every cost and the floorplan interest, then overhead, then the month's net. No spreadsheet at the end of the month.
